Cole sat and watched his other brother go through the process a year ago and now it's his turn to recieve attention. While Joey starred as a offensive and defensive lineman for the Ricebirds, Cole is better suited as a tight end or defensive end at the next level. Standing nearly 6-foot-7 and weighing at 235-pounds Hunt stands above the competition and it why he is starting to make a name for himself.
"It was their second junior day when I went to (Texas) Tech," Hunt said. "I liked it a whole lot. They're pretty high on my list and they're real interested. The facilities are real nice, the only thing that hurts them is their far from home but I don't think that's a real big deal."
Tech isn't the only school showing interest. It should come as no surprise that TCU is among the schools showing interest.
"SMU, TCU, Baylor, LSU invited me to a junior day, Tulsa, Rice, U of H, pretty much every school in Texas except for Texas and A&M," Hunt said. "A&M was but when they got Sumlin they're going more to a spread and don't use the tight end as much."
For TCU, Hunt knows the Frogs are eyeing a couple of tight ends and he has been told there is an interest. For him, the interest is mutual.
"I know they're recruiting a couple of tight ends and Coach Willimson has said they're real interested and my highlight film was real impressive," Hunt said. "He said my height helps out a whole lot. Hopefully they're interested, I like them a lot. I think they're going to invite us up there during the spring. I think I will go up there with Joey to check everything out."
Hunt says four teams are currently standing out. However, he says it's still too early to have a clear cut leader.
"Right now it's Tech, TCU, Oklahoma State and LSU," Hunt said. "There's still a lot of teams I'm interested in so I really can't be too specific."
For Cole, it's finally hitting home that it is now his chance to go through the recruiting process. He looks to his older brother Joey for guidance who has been there every step of the way.
"It's really cool because I used to sit back because I played baseball and I saw Joey getting recruiting attention and I thought that I really need to focus on football so I can get to the next level."
Hunt plans to attend junior day as SMU, Oklahoma State and Rice and attend the Baylor Spring game
