Among the standouts at the NLA Showcase in Lancaster Sunday afternoon was Duncanville defensive back Trey Edwards. Although he didn't win MVP honors, the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder displayed good coverage skills and was one of the smoothest defensive backs in attendance.

Edwards racked up 64 tackles last season for the Panthers which included a season-high 9 in a 56-55 win over Cedar Hill. He's currently getting interest from teams such as Missouri, Pitt, OU, and Kansas State and recently attended a TCU practice last week.

Edwards enjoyed the experience and the knowledge he received at the NLA Showcase. He also made it a point to guard some of the top receivers in attendance.

"It was great, I got a chance to work with some of the best athletes," he said. "I think I did best during one-on-one drills. I think the drills and working on my speed and agility."

Edwards made his way to TCU last Thursday to catch the Horned Frogs practice with teammate Cornelius Henderson. Edwards says the practice was very intense, especially on the defensive side of the ball at safety.

"It was real good, I liked the way they transitioned. There was a lot of leadership, lot of speed and a lot of safeties getting interceptions," Roberts said of TCU's practice.
