Five Star DT Narrows List to Three

Five star defensive tackle Justin Manning says he has stopped hearing from several schools initially in his top 8. As a result, TCU, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma are now the leaders for his services.

In mid-June, five-star defensive tackle Justin Manning from Dallas narrowed down his potential schools to eight.

TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Texas, and USC were the final eight, but Manning may have narrowed his list further since then.

"The only three schools that consistently contact me are TCU, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma," Manning said.

What about Arkansas?

"No contact at all. My interest is kind of dropping since I haven't been talking to them," Manning said.

And LSU?

"Same with them too."

Manning has said on numerous occasions that establishing a relationship is one of the most important aspects of his recruitment.

"The coaching staff is great at TCU," Manning said. "I [feel like] I can trust them."

"At Oklahoma, I talk to Coach Shipp all the time. In about two weeks, I am supposed to be going up there to work out," Manning said. "And so I will probably have a conversation with [Coach Shipp] again." Jackie Shipp is Oklahoma's defensive line coach.

"A&M is like constant contact. Their players call me from time to time. And players that have already committed talk to me and try to get me to go ahead and join them," Manning continued.

Manning said the fact that A&M is moving to the SEC does not really change his thoughts on their program, but Manning is happy that TCU will be moving to the Big 12.

"I just want a winning program and a coaching staff that I can really trust," Manning noted.

And as for that necessary level of trust, Manning said he feel like TCU is the best at creating that trust.

"When it comes to trust, it is TCU and Coach Shipp at Oklahoma. That is about it," said Manning.

"When it comes to winning, Oklahoma is a consistent winner, and with a school like Texas A&M, they have one of the biggest defensive lines. I kind of look at those things. It is eye-opening," finished Manning.

Lastly, Manning said he plans to attend Texas A&M on July 14.

As the number five defensive tackle in the country, Manning would be a huge score for any either TCU, Oklahoma, or Texas A&M.

Currently Bryson Henderson is the only defensive lineman committed to TCU in the class of 2013.

The Sooners already have three defensive ends committed: D.J. Ward, Dalton Rodriguez, and Matt Dimon. Ward is the highest ranked of the three.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M already has a crowded 2013 class on the defensive line. Four stars Hardreck Walker, Kerrick Huggins, and Isaiah Golden all play defensive tackle, and Jay Arnold and Jordan Points are committed to the Aggies at the defensive end position.
