Barnes Interested in Frogs

Barnes is a shooting guard from Belton, Texas, who has reached out to TCU to show his interest.

Thomas Barnes, a shooting guard from Belton High School, is a prospect who has seen his recruiting pick up a good bit this summer.

Barnes said the University of Arkansas, TCU, Michigan, Texas Tech, and Texas State have all been in contact with him over the past month.

I spoke with Barnes about several of those schools he mentioned.

"I need to schedule a visit to Arkansas to go on up there and see everything," Barnes said. "I have also received several emails from TCU talking about my interest."

Barnes averaged 15.4 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game as a junior at Belton High School.

Barnes is on Texas Tech's campus today taking an unofficial visit and he said he would like to set up a visit to TCU as well.

"[TCU] is definitely a place I would like to go to. I am going to try to get one scheduled," Barnes noted. "And Michigan just started contacting me next week."

"I am just looking for a school where I can get a great education, a school with great academic, and I am looking for a great coaching staff. It doesn't necessarily have to be close to home, but I am focused on getting my degree [as well as] playing basketball," Barnes continued.

Barnes finished, "AAU has gone really well this summer, been perfect. I have shown what I can do I think."

Guards Nate Butler and forward Garlon Green and Connell Crossland will graduate from TCU after the 2012-2013 season, so TCU will need to restock on perimeter talent. In the frontcourt, the Frogs will lost Adrick McKinney.
