Heard leads the way at TCU camp

Denton Guyer quarterback Jerrod Heard put his talents on display at a recent TCU camp.

Denton Guyer quarterback Jerrod Heard has already secured a spot as one of the top quarterbacks in the Lone Star State for the 2014 class. As the #1 rated quarterback on the HFB.com North Texas 2014 Top 35 list, Heard assured everyone in attendance at a recent TCU camp that he's living up to those accolades.

Heard was the most impressive quarterback among a very talented group of signal callers at the Horned Frogs camp and felt that he made a good impression on the coaches.

"It was great, the campus is amazing and I had a great time out there," he said. "I think I did pretty good, I was pretty impressed with myself because I haven't been to a camp in a while so I was going in hoping I would do good."

Heard certainly had the attention of TCU quarterbacks coach Rusty Burns and according to the signal caller, the Frogs definitely have him high on their radar for next season.

"He said I did good; he told me to keep working and get bigger and have a great season," he said. "An offer should come next year."

The TCU camp is likely the last stop he will make this summer as he prepares for the season. Texas, who many feel is his leader, will be the next school he plans to visit.

"I think this is the last camp, in August I'm going down to Texas again to watch a fall practice but that's about it," he said.

With offers on the table from LSU, Baylor, Nebraska and Arizona State, what does Heard think about the local program after his time on Friday?

"It's a great school, my dad works by here and it's one of those schools we always pass," he said. "When I was younger and we would go to my dad's job we would always come watch a game. I like it."
