Mayfield wants TCU offer

Lake Travis QB Baker Mayfield currently holds four offers and is hoping for one from TCU.

Lake Travis High School, in Austin, TX, is in the midst of one of the most impressive runs of dominance in Texas high school history. With the program turning out top players every year and winning state championship after state championship, the move to 5A this year will be monitored closely as the Cavaliers attempt to continue their winning ways. At the helm for the powerhouse program is Baker Mayfield. The 6'1" 205 pound QB spoke with to fill us in on the latest with his recruitment.

"Well, TCU is standing out for me right now" said Mayfield. "I'm just waiting to hear back from them. They told me I was in the final three so I'm waiting on that decision before I make my college choice."

Currently holding offers from Washington State, Rice, Florida Atlantic and New Mexico, Mayfield says a TCU offer would be a game changer.

"I just fell in love with it (TCU) when I went up there and got a tour of everything" he said. "The campus is really nice, I like the size of their graduating classes and I just really like it. It's really nice.

Their facilities are all really nice and even though some of them aren't finished, you can tell they're going to be nice."

With the TCU staff weighing their options, Mayfield is hoping that they decide that he's the one they want to offer. The staff has told him an answer is coming soon.

"It's around the timeframe they gave me for them to decide" said Mayfield. "I'll be at the camp in San Antonio and I'm hoping they offer there."

Would a TCU offer end the process for the talented QB?

"Most likely, yes sir" said Mayfield on accepting the offer on the spot." They told me they would be making their decision on an offer sometime around this weekend so I'm looking forward to the camp."

With 2014 teammate Shaun Nixon also receiving TCU interest, Mayfield says playing together at the next level is something that they've discussed.

"He (Nixon) went up there with me for the camp and he was in the same boat as me" said Mayfield. "We both just fell in love with it up there. We've been talking about playing together in college recently so that's something that would be good if he was to get an offer too."

With the TCU camp coming up on July 28th at Alamo Heights in San Antonio, stay logged on to to see if Mayfield receives his offer and chooses to become the next commit to join the ranks of the 2013 class.
