"Coach Williamson is the one recruiting me but I talked to him, Coach Anderson and Coach Patterson" said Johnson. "They were really excited."
With Johnson's commitment, TCU adds a big, between the tackles back that can get the Frogs the tough yards they'll need in the Big 12. With offers from TCU, Arkansas, Cal, Boise State, Utah, Wake Forest among others, Johnson was a back that was in high demand. So does this commitment end the recruiting process for the Taylor High School product?
"I'm not sure" said Johnson. "It's a strong verbal though".
Earlier this week we talked to Johnson and he lined out the things that he liked about TCU. So what made him go ahead and pull the trigger in favor of the Frogs today?
"They recruited me hard, I really like Coach Patterson and Coach Williamson because they've been there for a long time and they're real good coaches to be coached by" said the bruising runner. "TCU is real close to home; they have small class sizes so I'll get a lot of help in the classroom and make sure I graduate on time.
It's a family environment and it's good that they just moved into the Big 12 so it's a good place to go."
With their big runner now on board, TCU can turn their focus to the last few remaining spots in the class. Expecting to take 19-20 recruits in this class, the Frogs are on the home stretch as they look to finish out with a bang.
Johnson rushed for 744 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2011.
