HFB.com Countdown of TCU Impact Players #5

HornedFrogBlitz.com continues our countdown of TCU impact players.

TCU 2012 Top Impact Players

With the start of the 2012 season just days away when the Frogs report to camp on August 6th, HFB.com takes a look at the top 11 impact players that are vital to the Frogs success in their inaugural season in the Big 12.

At #5 on the list of impact players is senior linebacker Kenny Cain. The Frogs' leading tackler from a year ago will be counted on more than ever in 2012 with a linebacker corp that has several questions surrounding them.

#5 Kenny Cain

CAIN PROFILE
Position: LB
Class: Senior
Ht: 6-1 | Wt: 225
2011 stats: 72 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT
Best game of 2011: Recorded 13 tackles vs. Portland State
Accolades: Second-Team Mountain West

What makes Cain an impact player?
For starters, he's the lone returning linebacker with a resemblance of experience from a year ago. In 2011 Cain stepped up in a big was leading the team with 72 tackles in 11 games played after replacing Tanner Brock. Cain, whose four years have flown by, is now the senior leader of a linebacker corp that will feature only him and two others that have extensive playing time at the position thanks to Deryck Gildon's departure. Cain will be asked to not only have the same kind of season he had in 2011, he'll be asked to groom the younger inexperienced players in the process, a task Cain should have no trouble doing.
