Youth Rules Updated TCU Depth Chart

TCU released their updated depth chart on Monday night and to no surprise; youth dominates the two deep.

TCU released their first update depth chart on Monday evening and as head coach Gary Patterson has said all fall camp, this is a very young team.

One quick glance and you can see that the two deep is full of redshirt or true freshman players. Of the 22 starting positions on the two deep, 15 freshmen are in the two deep, led mostly on offense where ten players are in the two deep. Only 16 upperclassmen are listed on the two deep.

Fields is slated to start at RE
Of those freshmen are the very talented members of the 2012 class. Of the 21 players who made it to camp from the class, ten are listed in the two deep. Defensive end Devonte Fields, Jaden Oberkrom, Ethan Perry and Aviante Collins are listed as starters at their respective positions while Derrick Kindred has a chance to start at strong safety. If Collins goes down, another freshman, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, is waiting in the wings. Quarterback Tyler Matthews is listed at the #3 quarterback and Kolby Listenbee will get plenty of action as the backup to Ladarius Brown at receiver.

Notable changes to the roster include the arrival of sophomore linebacker Antonio Graves. The 6-foot-2, 214-pounder started the spring as a linebacker but moved to safety a few weeks in. Graves was awaiting his academic eligibility before he could practice this fall and with his return he adds depth to the Frogs' depleted linebacker corp. His addition to the roster was by far the biggest surprise. Former quarterback Matt Brown has surpassed David Porter at receiver behind Skye Dawson which isn't bad considering he's only worked at the position for a little over a week. Another notable change is senior Jeremy Coleman shifting from the defensive line to the offense line; although he hasn't made the two or three deep just yet.

Junior defensive end Stansly Maponga leads the Frogs in career starts with 25 while receiver Josh Boyce comes in at the second spot with 20 starts. Nine Frogs have 9 or more career starts.
