University Lab's Franklin Likes TCU

TCU has picked up several prospects from Louisiana recently. Will that trend continue with the 2013 class and Jarrod Franklin?

The TCU Horned Frogs have become one of the more dominant programs in the region over the last 3 years. With all of the talent at TCU's disposal in the state of Texas, you would think the Frogs would never have to leave the state to find prospects. Well it just so happens that Louisiana churns out top talent every year as well and the Frogs have dipped into the neighboring state to land a few gems recently. HornedFrogBlitz.com caught up with yet another player out of Louisiana that the Frogs have been in contact with; University Lab's, Jarrod Franklin.

"Things are going pretty good right now" said Franklin. "Since September 1st, a bunch of schools have been calling me and talking once a week and just talking to me about football really."

With early offers from Memphis, McNeese State, South Alabama and Southern Illinois, it would be simple to assume that Franklin is flying under the radar a bit. However, the 6'0" 195 pound safety prospect is actually hearing from a few others and his stock is sure to rise with a solid senior season.

"Mostly I've been hearing from Memphis and I've been talking to the University of Houston" said Franklin. "Those two and then the other schools that have offered me are the ones I'm hearing from the most right now, South Alabama and McNeese."

As far as schools he would like to hear from, Franklin says there are a few that stand out.

"I would like to hear from SMU more and of course TCU, they're a school I really like right now" he said. "And LSU really, they're right out here in my back yard."

Although Franklin hasn't heard from TCU a lot lately, he says he has a great relationship with Trey Haverty of TCU and says the TCU coach is a great guy.

"I would definitely like to come up there(TCU) and see a game but I want to talk to Coach Haverty more to see when one of the best games they play at home will be."

"Coach Haverty is awesome" he said. "I talk to him more than any other coach probably. I talk to him on Facebook and he calls sometimes and we just talk about football, it's always a good talk."

While he says he wants to focus on his senior season, Franklin has plans to make it to a few college games this year too.

"I'll probably be going up to a University of Memphis game and probably go check out the University of Houston and go to one of their games. I just want to get on the campuses and get to know them a little bit more."
