Massington, whose recovery is ahead of schedule and is nearing full strength, had planned on enrolling early at USC. The 6'3" 205 pound wide receiver did the things necessary to graduate early and was on track to report to his new home shortly. The only problem is, USC head coach Lane Kiffin informed Massington that the Trojans no longer had room for him to enroll early.
Clearly mislead and scrambling for a new school to call home, Massington opened his recruitment back up. The good news is, the talented receiver has had plenty of schools reach out to him and he knows he'll land on his feet with a good program.
"I'm doing real good with it" said Massington. "My rehab is going well but I'm trying to take it slow and make sure I'm ready to go."
"I'm almost back to full speed but I don't want to be back to full speed this soon, but I'm almost there" he said. "The only thing I can't do is react off of other people yet but I'll be ready to go soon. I'm doing really well."
While Massington was committed to USC, he focused on the Trojans only so his recruitment by other schools fell by the wayside. With his recruitment opening back up however, programs from across the country have made it known that they're still interested. The key is, he wants to graduate and enroll early so someone will have to be ready to take him really soon.
"I've been talking to UCLA, Alabama, LSU, Arizona State and Tennessee" he said. "I don't know about TCU though because I'm not sure if they have a mid-grad program. I'll be in school by signing day so I need to find somewhere that has that."
TCU does offer athletes the option to enroll early and the Horned Frogs will see Eason Fromayan and Bryson Burtnett do just that for the class of 2013. The question is, will the Frogs reach out to the big receiver? If you ask Massington, he'll be ready to go in 2013.
"I'm not looking to redshirt wherever I go" he said. "The only thing that would cause me to redshirt is if my knee wasn't ready because that's the main priority but I'll be ready."
