The TCU Horned Frogs have reached out to a Florida defensive back, will they offer? Step inside to find out. Coach Randy Shannon is on his way to Miami to give his best pitch for TCU and the Frogs hope he's listening.

The TCU Horned Frogs have built a national brand name over the last decade plus and it's starting to pay big dividends. The Frogs have made headway in recruiting California, Louisiana, Georgia and most recently, Florida. Troy McCollum, from North Miami High School, is the latest target from the great state of Florida that the Frogs are targeting. caught up with the talented cornerback prospect to get his take on the recruiting process.

"It's been crazy right now man" said McCollum. "All of these coaches changing jobs, everything's happening so fast, I'm just trying to stay humble over here."

Standing 6'1" and weighing 170 pounds, McCollum has the perfect size needed to play corner in the Big 12. With some of the most physically gifted pass catchers in the country residing within TCU's conference, the need for big, physical corners has never been more evident.

Claiming upwards of 20 offers, McCollum has a tough decision ahead. He currently holds offers from the likes of Illinois, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Indiana, South Florida, UCF, Marshall, Memphis and many others. One school that has yet to offer is TCU but McCollum says the Frogs are showing him a lot of interest.

"I'm hearing the most from Indiana, TCU, USF, Hawaii and Louisville" he said. "Coach Shannon from TCU is supposed to be coming to see me in the next couple of days."

With Coach Shannon's knowledge of what it takes to recruit Florida prospects and with his name recognition within the state, TCU fans have to feel good about the Former Miami Head Coach's pitch for TCU. McCollum says he already has a good relationship with Shannon and has a lot of respect for him.

"We have a really good relationship and he's from Miami so he knows how to recruit players down here and he's told me some information about the college (TCU) so that's good" said McCollum. "Hopefully TCU will offer and I think he'll be down here tomorrow to visit with me and my parents at my school so I'm looking forward to that."

While he had narrowed his focus to three or four schools recently, McCollum now says he doesn't have any favorites because he wants to hear from everyone that's interested in him so that he can make the best decision possible.

"I don't really have any favorites right now" he said. "My decision will be made on signing day and as of right now I don't have any visits set up but depending on what Coach Shannon says, we'll have to see."

While TCU has yet to offer, the door is at least open if they decide to do so. Will McCollum receive an offer from the Big 12's top defensive team in TCU? Stay logged on to to find out.
