Blanchard Weighing His Options

Blanchard's de-commitment from Arkansas has left the door open for Tennessee, LSU and TCU to step in and scoop him up. Who will it be? We have the latest here.

In the world of recruiting, things are constantly changing. Coaches come and go, players transfer, programs rise and fall and all of these can factor into a prospects decision to de-commit from a particular school. The newest name to hit the open market is Kaleb Blanchard. The one time Arkansas commit said goodbye to the Razorbacks today and re-entered the chaotic last couple of months of the 2013 recruiting cycle.

"I just de-committed today" said Blanchard. "I'm supposed to talk to TCU tomorrow actually about the whole situation with their running backs coach, I'm very interested in them."

Blanchard, from Denham Springs HS in Denham Springs, LA, currently holds offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Louisiana Tech. But it's two more programs that are entering the picture for the talented runner that could make things interesting as signing day draws closer.

"Since I de-committed, I've heard from Ole Miss, TCU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State" he said. "LSU, TCU and Tennessee" responded Blanchard when asked to name a top three.

Although TCU and LSU have yet to offer, Blanchard feels good about his chances with both programs.

"Those schools are the top three in no particular order" he said. "LSU told a teammate of mine that's committed there that they were going to offer me and I think TCU might talk to me about an offer hopefully tomorrow."

Currently standing at 6'0" and weighing 212 pounds, Blanchard says he would like to play at 215 or 220 pounds next year. He thinks his running style fits well with what TCU likes to do offensively and hopes to have the option to choose the Horned Frogs when January rolls around.

"Definitely seeing what TCU has done with the talent they have had previously; I would like to see what they could do for me, to help me get better as a football player."

With signing day just around the corner in February, Blanchard knows he has to make a decision soon. He says he wants to visit TCU and have his mind made up by sometime in January to make sure he still lands with a solid program.

"I'm trying to take a visit to TCU as soon as possible because I would like to commit in January so yes, I'll be coming up there" said Blanchard. "I'm just trying to set the visit."

With LSU and Tennessee as his their main competition, the Frogs will have to decide if they are going to offer, and decide soon. Stay logged on to HornedFrogBlitz.com to see if TCU extends an offer in the coming days; we'll have the scoop here like you've come to expect.
