McCollum Leaning Toward One?

North Miami's Troy McCollum is in high demand and a meeting with TCU's Randy Shannon may end up being the event that tips the scales.

When we last caught up with Troy McCollum, the sunshine state defensive back was eagerly awaiting his meeting with TCU's Randy Shannon. caught up with McCollum to see how the meeting went and to see if TCU extended an offer.

"Coach Shannon hasn't been down here yet so I didn't get to talk to him" said McCollum. "I'm not sure what the status is on that right now."

With it being a recruiting dead period and with the Horned Frogs preparing for their showdown with Michigan State in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, it very well could be that Shannon just hasn't had the chance to make it to Florida yet. So, is TCU still in the picture or have they fallen out of favor with the Florida star?

"No, I still like TCU and want to talk to coach Shannon, I just have to give him a call and see what's up" he said. "I'm mainly hearing from Hawaii and Indiana right now and also from Louisiana-Lafayette."

While TCU hasn't been in contact in a while, one school in particular has been in heavy contact with McCollum. That school would be Indiana and McCollum says their persistence has made quite an impression.

"All the schools that have been talking to me are equal but the schools that have been contacting me the most so far are Indiana and Hawaii" said McCollum. "I like Indiana because I would be playing good competition every week if I went there."

Although he maintains that most of the schools are equal, McCollum did say that Indiana may have taken a slight lead for his services. Holding nearly 20 offers, the talented defender had this to say about the Hoosiers.

"If I had to say a favorite right now, it would be them" he said. "It would most likely be them for now."

While that's not a ringing endorsement, it does put Indiana in good position. So would a TCU offer change things?

"I'm going to wait until signing day to make sure other offers don't come along" said McCollum. "I want to see what Coach Shannon has to say when I talk to him."

As it stands now, Indiana seems to be the team to beat but should the Horned Frogs get heavily involved, TCU could move into the role of favorite again. Stay logged on to to get the latest on McCollum's recruitment and to see if TCU enters the picture with an offer.
