Villalobos Excited For TCU Junior Day

Keller (TX) Fossil Ridge defensive end Anthony Villalobos will attend TCU's junior day on Saturday.

Keller (TX) Fossil Ridge defensive end Anthony Villalobos told last July that one of his favorite schools was TCU. Not much has changed since that conversation as the Frogs are still sitting pretty.

There was a time however that Villalobos started to question whether or not he was among the top prospects the Frogs were targeting. That uncertainty was cleared up recently as TCU extended him an invite to attend their junior day this Saturday.

He's not missing the missing the opportunity.

"Coach Sharp called Coach Moss and Coach Moss told me to call Coach Sharp," he said. "I think it was Thursday when they invited me. It was nice, it was kind of a relief to see that they're really interested in me."

Several programs have started to show interest in the 6-foot-3, 250-pounder. He received his first offer last week when SMU came forth with a verbal offer. He attended the Mustangs' junior day last weekend and enjoyed his time on the Hilltop.

"It was nice, I like the school," he said. "It's like TCU in a way because it's a smaller, private campus. It was nice."

In addition to the TCU junior day, Villalobos will also attend junior days at Kansas State, Baylor and Rice. He's also attended a junior day at Minnesota and feels the Gophers, along with others, could offer in the spring.

"They said they would be talking to me about it around spring football," Villalobos said. "I have a lot of schools coming around spring football to see me."

With interest coming in from all directions, TCU is one school that has always been on his mind. It's close to home, his sister goes to school there and he knows his family would see him play. While he admits he would think long and hard about a commitment if the Frogs do offer this weekend, he also says he may take a little time to evaluate his decision.

"I don't know, if I talk to them and everything about it and it seems right I might commit but right now I don't know," he said. "I think before the start of next season I'd like to make my choice."

Aside from his admiration for TCU, he already has a teammate telling him plenty about the Big 12 school; Nick Foster. The cornerback committed to TCU nearly three weeks ago and according to Villalobos, Foster says he'd feel at home with TCU.

"He told me that he thinks I would like it there," he said.

Villalobos recorded 87 tackles and 11 sacks in 2012.
