Adams Takes in TCU Practice

Kendall Adams is picking up interest from quite a few programs. With one offer in hand, more will undoubtedly be on the way.

The TCU Horned Frogs were back on the practice field this afternoon as spring practice continued to roll on. The Frogs had a few visitors on hand from a team that just won the state championship in the 2012 season. All Saints high school brought a group of players to watch the Frogs in action and one of those players was Kendall Adams.

"It was pretty cool because our head coach is pretty good friends with Coach Patterson so we got to have a few conversations with him and watched each of our positions" said Adams. "I really enjoyed the intensity, especially from Coach Patterson."

"All of the coaches are real passionate about what they do and the players look like they're having fun out there; I just really liked the atmosphere at practice today."

Adams, accompanied by Saints teammates, Foster Sawyer, Chris Lane, Charlie Flores and Blaze Morehead, has already started to see interest from schools start to pick up. He recently received his first offer from the Rice Owls. Getting that first offer is always big, but Adams hopes it's just a precursor of things to come.

"Rice is my first and only offer right now" he said. "I'm hearing from Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Tulsa, SMU and Arizona State."

"I think SMU and Tulsa might be" said Adams when asked which of those schools might be close to offering.

With his visit to TCU today, Adams has TCU near the top of his list of favorites. But, he says he's not hearing from them too much at the moment.

"Honestly, I haven't really been hearing much from TCU" said Adams. "I've talked to Coach Patterson a couple of times though and if they did start showing interest in me, I think I would be playing defensive back there."

"I'm open to either one (offense or defense) but Rice offered me for safety" he said. "Coach Beck is telling me that I have a lot of schools that have interest in me as a wide receiver as well so it really doesn't matter to me, it's just whichever school is the best for me."

While he's being recruited for his prowess on the football field, Adams knows there's life after football and he wants to make sure he's prepared for that. Since that's a priority for him, he is taking his time and looking at each school's academic reputation.

"I want a school that's known for their education so that I can get a good job after school if my plans of playing pro ball don't work out" he said. "Also, I would like to play somewhat early; I'm not against redshirting but I don't want to sit the bench my whole career."

With almost a full year remaining until signing day 2014, Adams says he's in no hurry to make a decision. He says he'll know when it's the right time though.

"Coach Beck told me once I got my first offer, a lot more will come" said Adams. "I'm just waiting to see what other offers I'm going to get and then I'll commit when I find the right fit for me."
