"The camp was nice, it was set up nice and I've always wanted to come to NFTC so it was one of my best achievements getting to come here" said Sam. "There's always room for improvement but I think I did well."
With offers on the table from Arizona State, Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Texas Tech and others, Sam has already made a name for himself. The payoff for attending a camp like this was the chance to see where he stacked up against the best of the best.
"It's Texas, so there's always great competition" he said. "There's so many good players out there and there was great competition at linebacker so it motivated me to keep getting better."
Although the Allen star has yet to receive an offer from TCU, he says he was able to visit the campus on Saturday and he liked what he saw. The TCU staff has made it clear to him that they are watching him closely.
"I've been hearing from TCU lately" he said. "I was actually on their campus Saturday visiting and it was really nice."
"They didn't offer me but they told me they were going to come down and see me for the spring" said the talented defender. "They'll let me know from there but I'll probably be getting an offer sometime this spring."
Although TCU has yet to offer, Sam says he's very interested in the Horned Frogs.
"If they were to offer, they would be very high on my list" said Sam. "I don't have a top 3 or anything but TCU is up there, I've always liked them."
With 14 offers to choose from, Sam says he wants to start narrowing down his list so that he can focus on where he really wants to be.
"I'll start narrowing down my list sometime after spring and then I'll make a decision when I feel like I'm ready."
