Watkins Enjoying The Process

Dallas Bishop Dunner cornerback Nick Watkins is one of the top cornerbacks in the country. Has he heard from TCU lately?

TCU has already landed five commitments for their 2014 class which includes two four-star players. The Frogs currently have the No. 14 class in the FOXSportsNEXT.com team rankings.

With such a limited number of scholarships available, the Frogs have set their sights on some of the top players in the country. Among those players is Dallas Bishop Dunne 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback Nick Watkins.

Rated as the No. 8 cornerback prospect in the country, Watkins is a wanted man. Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ohio State and TCU are just a few of the schools in pursuit of Watkins.

Watkins was invited to TCU's first junior day in early February, but he was unable to attend.

"They've been sending me a lot of letters, I just haven't got in contact with one of the coaches," Watkins said. "My coach talked to me about Coach Jennings. The last time I heard from TCU was for their first junior day but I couldn't make it."

Although he hasn't spoken with TCU for a while, Watkins said he definitely has an interest in the Horned Frogs.

"Yeah I would, I'm definitely interested," he said. "They just win a lot."

A few teams have already stopped by Bishop Dunne since Monday to catch a glimpse of Watkins.

"Baylor, Nebraska, Texas and Stanford have come by," he said.

Watkins isn't in any hurry to make a decision; he admits he's enjoying the process to much to end his recruitment so early.

"I'm just waiting, I'm taking the process slow and just enjoying it," Watkins said. "I don't have any favorites."

Watkins recently visited Notre Dame and that appears to be the last visit he'll take this spring as he turns his focus away from recruiting and toward the gridiron.

"I don't have any more spring games to go to," he said. "I'm just focused on the season and on getting better and helping my team win."
