"Well, I actually just got a Texas Tech offer and it's another Texas school so my parents were pretty excited about that" he said. "It's definitely a school that I'm considering now."
After it looked like TCU and Kansas State were running off and leaving the others, the Texas Tech offer may have stirred things up for Allen.
"Well, it makes it tough because it's getting to that point where I have to make a decision" said Allen. "It's not that I have to make a decision, but I want to."
"I just need to visit the campuses, meet all the coaches and get comfortable with who I'll be working with."
So has the Tech offer opened Allen's eyes and more importantly, do the Red Raiders have a chance in this recruitment?
"I would say that Tech is up there also" he said. "The other schools that offered me aren't out of it but TCU, Kansas State and Texas Tech are my top three right now."
Allen went on to compare the two in state offers that he's seriously considering at this point, Tech and TCU.
"TCU is known for defense, and of course that matters, but one of the things that I have to take into consideration is that TCU runs a 4-2-5 defense" said Allen. "That means they only play two linebackers and it would be a harder shot for me to get playing time so that has to be considered."
"I'm also looking at depth charts so that will play a big part in it too."
As June approaches, Allen is working rapidly to narrow things down in hopes of reaching his final decision. With his self imposed deadline bearing down on him, he knows he has to consider every detail.
"I really want to have this finished by June so I want to get to all of the schools soon."
