Shaw had a stellar sophomore campaign that included 88 tackles, 5 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries. For his efforts, the 6-foot-2, 188-pounder was named district 20-3A newcomer of the year.
The rising safety prospect has already hit the radar of a few programs. He's visited Texas for the Longhorns spring game and two additional Big 12 programs have shown early interest.
TCU receivers coach Curtis Luper visited Center last week and although Shaw doesn't know much about the program, TCU does have one glaring comparison to his school.
"I don't know much, but I like their colors," he said. "It's just like Center's colors."
Shaw will make a return trip to Texas this summer to attend a one-day camp. He also plans to hit one of TCU's camps in either Beaumont or Kilgore.
"I'm going to one at Texas down in Austin," he said. "I may make the TCU one at Beaumont Ozen too."
While he grew up a Longhorns fan, Shaw says he doesn't have a favorite at the moment and is open to any program that's willing to show him interest.
"I don't have any favorites at the moment, whatever school comes I'm going to look at," he finished.
