The Frogs' staff has offered just over a handful of offensive line prospects thus far; most of them regarded as some of the top linemen in the nation. On Thursday, another prospect joined the elite list of select targets to garner a TCU offer when Brenham, Texas offensive lineman Austin Schlottmann was offered by the Frogs.
Ranked as the No. 45 offensive tackle prospect in the nation by FOX Sports NEXT, Schlottmann received the good news from his area recruiter and TCU offensive line coach Eddie Williamson.
"I like TCU, I had known that they were pretty interested and he called and was saying he was waiting for Coach Patterson to give the green light," Schlottmann said. "We talked about what they do at TCU and everything. It was good."
Schlottmann plays tackle for the Cubs, but the Frogs see him as a player that could transition to the interior of the offensive line if tackle doesn't work out. Regardless where he plays, Schlottmann says it doesn't matter.
"He (Williamson) said that I could play either guard or tackle," he said. "It doesn't matter to me; it's whatever I need to do."
Throughout his recruitment, TCU is a school that Schlottmann has mentioned having a strong interest in. What makes the Frogs' program stand out?
"I went and visited when they played Oklahoma last season and I really liked the campus and stuff," he said. "The coaching staff seems cool and I like Ft. Worth, it's a good location."
TCU wasn't the only program to offer Schlottmann on Thursday. He also received an offer from Arizona State, who has been showing strong interest of late.
Schlottmann will visit Houston on Saturday, Texas on Sunday and Texas A&M on June 9th. The big lineman says the Longhorns or Aggies haven't discussed an offer, but he's hoping to impress them enough at camp to receive one.
"The Texas coach (Oscar Giles) talked to our head coach and he came and watched us lift but he never got to see me outside," Schlottmann said. "I think they just wanted to come see me. He said they weren't promising an offer or anything, they just wanted to see me workout.
"With A&M, I went to the junior day there and he (B.J. Anderson) said they wanted to evaluate me some more. He came to our off-season I think last Thursday and I asked if he'd like me to come to their camp and he said yes so I'm going to go to that one."
"Of course the bigger schools kind of stand out like TCU, Tech, Arizona State, UCF, Rice; all of those big schools," Schlottmann said.
With a list of favorites to choose from, Schlottmann is planning on having his decision made by August, before his senior season kicks off.
"It will probably be in August is what we've decided. It will probably be right before the season starts," Schlottmann said of a decision.
