Owens One To Watch

Jarrell Owens out of Palestine, TX had an impressive TCU camp in Kilgore on Wednesday.

It didn't take long to spot Palestine, TX defensive end Jarrell Owens when he took part in the TCU satellite camp in Kilgore earlier in the week. At 6-foot-3, 240-pounds, Owens was one of the more physically impressive participants at the camp.

Owens worked out at defensive end and tight end for the Frog coaches and definitely raised some eyebrows. He tested well running a 4.66 forty and performed well in drills.

"I went out there and did my best, I think everything came out alright," Owens said of his camp performance.

Owens has been on the Frogs' radar for a few months and feels an offer could be coming down the road eventually.

"They were just telling me how good I looked in the drills and stuff," he said. "They've shown me a lot of interest; I like the coaches so far. It's going real good."

Owens has lined up anywhere from runningback, linebacker, receiver and defensive end for Palestine. For him, it doesn't matter where he plays on the field just as long as he's on it.

"I just like being on the football field and making plays," Owens said.

While Owens awaits word on an offer from TCU, he's already got a few options to choose from.

"I have Texas Tech, Louisiana-Monroe and Texas State," he said. "I have plenty of schools interested in me from Oklahoma, TCU, Baylor and some other schools."

Owens would like to have a decision made by the end of his season and he's already got his eyes on a couple of lucky programs. However, he's not ready to go on record to say who they are just yet.

"I have a couple a favorites right now," he said. "But, I'll just hold that thought right now."
