Maxey hoping for TCU offer

Longview, Texas safety Stephan Maxey hopes to receive an offer from TCU.

Longview, TX safety Stephan Maxey had a mission last week to prove to TCU coaches that he was an elite safety they were looking for. The 6-foot, 185-pounder has been on the Frogs' radar for quite some time now and even made a junior day a few months ago.

Maxey was one of several talented prospects who made their way to TCU's satellite camp in Kilgore last week. Working at safety, Maxey admits he could've done better on the day but he did get some helpful pointers from the coaches on how to improve his game.

"I think I did alright," he said of his camp performance. "I think I might've been out of shape a little bit. They said I need to improve on my footwork some more and my hips."

Maxey is still awaiting an offer from the Frogs, who he says is way out on top.

"I like them, I think they have the best program," he said.

A return visit to TCU's campus could be in the works for Maxey.

"If Zay (Zaycoven Henderson) goes down I'm going to go down," he said.

Aside from TCU, it's been relatively quiet for Maxey on the recruiting front. He does have one other school showing strong interest at the moment.

"Lamar is showing strong interest, they told me if anyone asks to tell them I have an offer from Lamar," Maxey said.

Maxey planned to be at a Texas Tech camp this week.
