Brenham OL Talks Decision

The TCU Horned Frogs scored big Thursday night when Brenham's Austin Schlottmann committed to them. The 6'5" 285 pound lineman explains why he chose TCU and what he expects going forward.

The TCU Horned Frogs needed a commitment and they received a big one on Thursday night. Austin Schlottmann, hailing from powerhouse Brenham high school, made the call to Coach Patterson and in his words, it felt great.

"It feels great, it's awesome" Schlottmann proclaimed. "I'm really happy."

With 11 offers on the table, things were really starting to heat up for the Brenham big man. After visiting TCU on Tuesday, Schlottmann knew he had found a place that made him feel comfortable.

"Me and my dad went up there on Tuesday for their 3 day camp and I got to work out with Coach Williamson" he said. "After that, they took us around and we got to see all the facilities and we got to talk to Coach Patterson for a long time; I just really liked it up there."

"My parents really liked it up there too and I got to talk to them about it and we felt like that was the right place for me to be."

Schlotman says another thing that stands out about TCU is the fact that they win at every stop, even in their first year in the Big 12.

"TCU has just proven themselves and their staff has been there for a while" said Schlottmann. "They always seem to win games like with the Rose Bowl and then coming into the Big 12 and winning right away."

"They won all those games and beat Texas so they proved that they could beat all of the big teams."

As a versatile player, Schlottman is very valuable to a Horned Frog team that desperately needs help on the o-line. The good news is, he doesn't care where he plays, he's just ready to contribute.

"I'm not one of those guys that say I have to play tackle or I have to play center or whatever" he said. "It's wherever they need me I'll fit in and I trust them to put me in the best place."

With his commitment now public, many feel like the Brenham product will continue to draw interest from other schools. Well, he has a message for schools trying to get back in the picture with him.

"I'm 100%" he said. "I'm done."

With commitment #5 in the books, Schlottmann wanted to send a message to TCU fans.

"I'm just excited but I'm going to focus on my senior season" he said, "After that, I'm going to be excited to be up there, it's going to be good."

With this commitment, the Frogs are down to about 9 slots left to fill. Could this be the one that gets the ball rolling? Stay logged on to to find out.
