Wagner To Attend TCU Camp

Mesquite(TX)Horn cornerback Nehemiah Wagner will attend TCU's skills camp on Friday.

For those that follow TCU football and recruiting, it's common knowledge that Gary Patterson likes to recruit defensive backs. With a defensive scheme that fields five and sometimes six defensive backs, finding quality players is a must for the defense to succeed.

The Frogs currently have two defensive back commitments for the 2014 class and have several offers out to players across the country. One player in particular could be next on the list to receive a Frogs' offer; Nehemiah Wagner.

Rated as the nation's No. 70 cornerback prospect by FOX Sports NEXT, Wagner is closing quickly on double-digit offers.

"I have seven offers right now; Tulsa, U of H(Houston), UTSA, Toledo, New Mexico, Northern Illinois and UNT," Wagner said.

Wagner has the opportunity to add an offer from the Frogs this Friday as he plans to attend the Frogs' skills camp. Although he hasn't had much communication with coaches from TCU, he knows they're closely watching him.

"They came to one of my practices and my coach told me that they liked me," he said. "That's all I know about it. My coach has talked to them about it."

While he appreciates the seven offers he's received thus far, he says getting one from TCU, being that they're a Big 12 program, would be a big boost to his recruitment.

"It would be great, I want to get an offer from a Big 12 school," he said. "It would be great."

Wagner doesn't know much about TCU's program, but the style of defense the Frogs run is intriguing.

"I think I would do good in a nickel style defense, I would like that," he said.

Wagner doesn't list any favorites at the moment but says proximity and playing time are two factors he's looking at.

"Right now I don't have a favorite," he said. "I'm looking at location and playing time."
