TCU 2013 Top Impact Players
With the start of the 2013 season just days away when the Frogs report to camp, HFB.com takes a look at the top 11 impact players that are vital to the Frogs success in their second season in the Big 12.
At No. 6 in our countdown of top impact players is sophomore offensive tackle Aviante Collins.
#6 Aviante Collins
What makes Collins an impact player?
Collins started all 13 games in 2012, ten at right tackle and three at left tackle helping pave the way for the Frogs' running game which ended the season averaging 152 yards per game. However, that was only good enough for 8th best in the conference. The thing that makes Collins so important this season is he will be dealt the task of protecting the quarterback's (whoever that will be) blindside. This essentially makes Collins the most valuable offensive lineman on the roster – as a sophomore. Collins did show flashes last year that he has the potential to be great at TCU, earning freshman All-American honors and Big 12 honors.
The biggest improvement Collins has to have is pass blocking and more particularly, holding problems. He was called several times for holding penalties last season, but as the season progressed Collins got better. Of course, not many freshmen can get through a full season without a few mistakes. He won't be afforded as many mistakes this season with a deep tackle rotation.
