Aledo, TX receiver Ryan Newsome impressed many this summer at various camps. Now he's ready to put his hard work on display this season.

Aledo, TX 2015 athlete Ryan Newsome made a splash this summer after strong performances at various camps. Known for his outstanding speed after making it to the Class 4A 100-meter finals, wherever Newsome went he was usually the fastest player in attendance.

Newsome turned heads at Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor and TCU. His performance at TCU landed him on's top performers list.

Now, it's time to focus his talents on the real season as the 2013 kickoff is just days away.

Newsome arrived in Aledo last spring and has already been tabbed as a player to watch in the football crazed town. He split time at quarterback in the spring but the Bearcats will utilize his 4.3 speed in a variety of ways this season. Aledo will scrimmage defending state champion Denton Guyer this Friday.

"It's been real good, I'm just working on getting my spot and grinding," he said of two-a-days. "They have me everywhere right now, I'll probably be the starting QB but I'll play slot too. They've got me at runningback, punt returner and kick returner. They have me a little bit of everywhere, they're thinking about 25-30 touches a game."

Newsome says since his impressive performance at TCU's camp that he's seen a rise in his recruitment. Baylor, Nebraska and now Florida State are showing him the most interest.

"I've talked to Baylor and talked to Art Briles and toured their facilities," he said. "He told me Kendall Briles is going to be at the Stephenville game because they're also recruiting Jarrett Stidham. I've got some mail from Nebraska, they told me they might offer me after September 1st. Baylor, Nebraska and I'm getting a lot of mail from Florida State now; it's been going well. My recruiting went up even more after the TCU camp."

Although he hasn't spoken with TCU recently, Newsome says the Frogs continue to show strong interest. According to his coach, he's one of the top prospects the Frogs are watching from the 2015 class.

"They've sent me some mail, but they can't talk to me until after September 1st but they've sent me a lot of mail," he said. "Coach Jarrett Anderson talks to my coach a good bit about me. My coach also talked to Kenny Perry and he said I was one of the top three recruits they were going to go after. My coach has said I'm one of the top recruits they're going to watch."

Newsome was invited to attend the Frogs big game against LSU next Saturday; however he and his teammates have a game the same night. But, he says he'll definitely make a few games this season at some point.

"I got invited to a Baylor game and got invited to the LSU-TCU game but unfortunately I can't attend that game because I'll be in Allen that weekend playing Highland Park. But I do plan to attend a Baylor game and TCU games; hopefully TCU vs. Texas."
