Schlottman Ready to Get to Fort Worth

TCU picked up a big commitment when Austin Schlottman pulled the trigger in favor of the Horned Frogs. caught up with the big lineman to get his take on his senior season, the recruiting process and his last semester of high school.

Although Brenham fell to Aledo in the state championship game, the season Austin Schlottman was able to experience can never be taken from him. When asked to describe in his own words what this season meant to him, the talented lineman shared his emotions throughout the run.

"It was the most fun I've ever had in my life" said an upbeat Schlottman. "With all of the guys on the team working together, that had the same goal, we just wanted to get to that state championship game."

"Especially after losing in the first round last year, it was on everybody's minds pretty much the whole offseason" he said. "It was so much fun seeing our whole team get better and better every week, it was great."

With offers on the table from programs across the country, the Brenham star was happy to share the fact that he's only hearing from the Horned Frogs these days. But, it wasn't always that way.

"Right when I committed to TCU, they were still coming after me a little bit but it's really, really slowed down" said Schlottman. "Now all I hear from is TCU and I really like that a lot; I'm 100% with them too and couldn't be happier."

Along with Schlottman, TCU has added big time offensive line commits with Ty Barrett and Frank Kee. With more big men likely joining the ranks in the coming weeks. With one of the top o-line classes in the country, have the future Frogs been in contact with each other?

"I talk to Ty Barrett a lot but I haven't talked to Frank Kee yet" said Schlottman. "I've talked to Ty about how we need to be ready, even though we may not play right away and to make sure we work hard so we can help out wherever we can."

With the hiring of Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie, Schlottman sees an improved offense in the future and the changes he sees has him excited and ready to get involved.

"I think it's awesome the kind of offense they're going to run" he said. "With the way they're going to throw the ball and with the running back corps we have, I think it's going to be really fun to play in."

With roughly 5 months left in his high school career, Schlottman says the fact that he's about to be at TCU is becoming more and more a reality every day.

"It's going to be a weird feeling these last few months, but I'll be in track and throwing discus and stuff, but I'm going to have to work really hard" he said. "I've been through having to work hard in the offseason and lifting weights a lot before so I think it will be alright."

Will Schlottman contribute the day he steps on campus or will he have to work his way up the depth chart? We'll know soon enough as fall camp is only 8 short months away so stay logged on to
