TCU Flips Rising Safety

TCU added the 17th commitment to their 2014 class on Wednesday as Longview, TX safety Travin Howard committed to the Frogs.

TCU added commitment No. 17 to their 2014 class on Wednesday afternoon, landing one of the state's top sleepers in Longview, TX safety Travin Howard.

Howard confirmed to HornedFrogBlitz.com on Wednesday night when asked if he had committed.

"Yes sir," Howard exclaimed via Twitter.

Howard, who originally committed to UTSA in December, made the switch to TCU following a visit to the Ft. Worth campus last Friday. TCU also made a visit to his school on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder is rated as the No. 84 safety prospect in the country by Scout.com.

Howard was named District 12-5A Defensive Most Valuable Player in 2013 after recording 89 tackles including 10 TFL's, 8 interceptions and forced three fumbles. He also had four defensive touchdowns and also returned two punts for scores.

Howard also received recent interest from Ole Miss, who also visited Longview on Wednesday.
