TCU Lands Texas Tech Legacy

The TCU Horned Frogs have landed one of the top sleepers in the state of Texas. Trey Elliot, of Dallas Jesuit, has confirmed that he's a Horned Frog and happy with his decision.

Trey Elliott popped on to TCU fan's radar recently when it was revealed that the local lineman would visit TCU. At 6'4" and 275 pounds, Elliott wasn't new to the TCU coaching staff. They had been keeping an eye on him since last summer and it looks like their diligence has paid off in the form of a commitment. Elliott says he felt at home right away and he knew TCU was the place for him.

"It was just something different" said the big lineman. "I went to a school in the Mountain West last week and I wanted to compare it to something else."

"I like the Big 12 a lot and the facilities are great and there's not a lot of students there. It's a great education there and that's what I like so I committed."

With offers from TCU, Texas Tech, Fresno State, Nevada and more, Elliott found himself rising up different team's charts as signing day draws closer. With strong family ties to Texas Tech, many fans thought he would at least visit the Red Raiders to compare his visit to TCU.

"I'm done" said Elliott. "People have asked why I'm not visiting Tech and why I picked TCU over them and it's because I just like TCU a lot better; I mean someone's got to end the trend sooner or later and it should be fun."

While TCU is in need of offensive linemen, Elliot says he's not sure where he'll line up at TCU. From the sound of it, TCU's staff wants him to come in, work hard and find out where he fits best.

"I heard o-line, I heard d-line but I don't have specifics yet" he said. With playing time available at multiple spots, Elliott says he's coming in with an open mind and plans to work hard to find his position.

Late in the season, TCU's Bobby Thompson emerged as one of the leaders for a starting spot on the offensive line. This weekend, Thompson served as Elliot's host and it sounds like the two hit it off.

"The guys are awesome, I mean I haven't met better guys than them" he said. "They're all great guys, the know football and they how to talk football and they're just amazing guys."

"My host was Bobby Thompson and he's a guard there and he was a great host" said the Dallas Jesuit star. "We hung out and I met some of the current players and most of the recruits and the were just all great guys."

As signing day nears, Elliott is looking forward to getting to TCU and starting his collegiate career. As we wrapped up the interview, he wanted to let the TCU fans know what type of guy they're going to get when he gets to campus.

"I'm just glad to join the family and be a part of y'alls lives. We're going to win a ring next year hopefully and I'm ready to see how it goes."
