"It's official" exclaimed Barrett. "I'm signing with TCU."
With more than 20 offers and recent visits to Arizona State and UCF, Barrett broke down his visits and spoke about what stood out at each stop.
"It was good just to get out to the West coast to see how it is out there" he said. "You know it's like a whole different world, but it was good."
"It was a great visit and I was excited about it and the coaches really showed me a good time and I had a good time."
After his ASU visit, Barrett de-committed before he hopped on a plane to Florida to see UCF. Hoping to enjoy a nice trip to Florida, Barrett wasn't disappointed.
"It was a good visit also" he said. "Just the atmosphere down there in Florida, it's going to be nice weather and everything like that. The coaching staff is good and it was a lot of fun."
Barrett says he actually called the TCU coaching staff when he returned from his UCF visit to let them know he would be coming to TCU. While he had planned to wait until signing day to announce it, he found himself under increasing pressure.
"I was just getting really stressed with it and I was just tired of dealing with it" said the big lineman. "I didn't want all that chaos up at my school so I called and got back with them."
"I talked to them when I got back from my UCF visit and I talked to Coach Luper again tonight."
Barrett said he's glad it's over and he's focused on getting TCU back to the national spotlight.
"I'm just ready to sign and get there and work hard" he said. "We're going to try to bring that National Championship here to North Texas and that's it."
With Braden Smith and other big time recruits coming in this weekend, Barrett said he will be on campus to attempt to help close out the class on a high. Stay logged on to HornedFrogBlitz.com to catch the latest with signing day just over 8 days away.
