Ford Wastes Little Time Choosing TCU

TCU's recruiting momentum lasted Monday as they landed yet another commitment for the 2015 class. This time, it came from Pineville, LA OL Cody Ford.

TCU is riding a wave of recruiting momentum in the last 24 hours, securing commitments for both the 2014 and 2015 classes. On Sunday, Coach Gary Patterson and his staff landed commitments from two key targets in the 2014 class and three more targets from the 2015 class after their first junior day.

The recruiting hot-streak continued on Monday for the 2015 class as the Frogs landed their seventh commitment for the class when Pineville, LA offensive lineman Cody Ford committed to the Frogs. That's not a typo, that is indeed seven commitments for next year's class and it's not even February.

Landing Ford gives the Frogs their first offensive line commit for the class and it couldn't have come from more of a promising prospect. One view of Ford's highlights and you'll quickly notice the force and pure power Ford possesses in each block.

The decision for Ford to commit to TCU came quickly. He told in an update on Sunday night that it wouldn't take long for him to make a decision after his junior day visit.

"I'll be (deciding) very soon. I'm not really waiting on anybody else," he told on Sunday.

Ford was a man of his word on Monday night, choosing the Frogs over early offers from Louisiana Tech and Arkansas. Ford loved his visit to Ft. Worth for the Frogs' junior day on Sunday and said his relationship with the coaches stood out the most. It was that relationship with the coaches that led him to commit according to Ford.

"The coaching staff made me feel like I was at home," Ford said of his decision.

After sleeping on it, Ford thought the timing was right to call Patterson to give him the good news of his commitment.

"He said he was excited to hear that," Ford said of Patterson.

Ford said TCU's academics also played a big factor in his decision. The football program boasts one of the top graduation rates in the nation.

TCU has told Ford he will play tackle for them when he arrives on campus. He's not sure when the coaches will visit him at Pineville again, but another Big 12 program recently stopped by his school.

"Oklahoma State was already in contact before the visit," he said.
