TCU Visit Opens Haughton's Eyes

Kahlil Haughton visited TCU last Saturday for the Frogs' second junior day.

Waco (TX) Midway safety Kahlil Haughton received an offer from TCU a few weeks ago. Regarded as one of the top safety prospects in the Lone Star State, the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder has picked up offers from the Frogs, Baylor, Oklahoma, SMU and Oregon State.

Haughton is already ranked as the No. 22 safety prospect in the latest 2015 rankings by Scout.com. Haughton had already been on a visit to Baylor and last weekend he made the drive north to Ft. Worth to attend TCU's junior day.

"It was really nice," Haughton said. "I didn't know what the campus and facilities looked like, but I was really impressed with the facilities and everything."

While on the visit, Haughton received plenty of attention from the TCU coaches; particularly with head coach Gary Patterson. The conversation helped open his eyes even further toward TCU.

"He was just talking about how he wants to have a great foundation with TCU and that it's not just about winning football games, but also making sure we grow into great people and graduate with good grades," he said. "He said they'd really like to have me and think I'm a special player and one of the top on their board."

Although he hasn't named favorites just yet, he admits that after his TCU visit the Frogs will be among his top schools.

"With everything looking how it is now, yes," Haughton said.

Haughton said the visit also impressed his mother, who made the visit with him.

"She liked it! She thinks it's a real family atmosphere and likes Coach Patterson and mostly their academics," Haughton said.
