Jones Excited With TCU Interest

Pointe Coupee safety Bryce Jones has received recent interest from TCU.

Pointe Coupee High in Marganza, Louisiana isn't exactly a booming metropolis, but it has two of the better players in the Pelican State that are still somewhat under the recruiting radar.

The lack of interest likely won't last too much longer.

The two players drawing new attention are defensive back Bryce Jones and receiver Stephen Guidry. Jones is a do-everything player for the Cougars; lining up at cornerback, running back and safety. At 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, some colleges project Jones as a linebacker.

For now, he's being recruited mostly as a defensive back, which is what he's preparing for.

"As a safety, but I can play outside linebacker and also corner," he said. "I've been working on DB more than anything."

Jones has garnered interest from a few schools, but TCU has talked about extending an offer. In fact, according to the rising prospect, the Frogs have offered.

Jones says the interest from TCU caught him by surprise.

"It was unexpected," he said. "I haven't had contact with anyone because I didn't have a phone. I believe Stephen talked to some coaches though. We were just blessed!"

A few other schools have shown interest and could be next to offer Jones.

"ULL is talking to me, LSU and hopefully UCLA knock on the door with an offer," he said. "I really have interest with those schools."

Jones plans summer visits to Texas A&M, UCLA, Miami, Florida State and Alabama.
