The TCU Horned Frogs have been working on building a fence around the DFW metroplex for some time now. With so much talent residing in the area, the Frogs have focused their efforts on programs such as Desoto, Allen, Dallas Skyline, Trinity and last, but certainly not least, Cedar Hill.
Richard Moore, a linebacker for the Cedar Hill Longhorns, is a name TCU fans need to get familiar with. At 6'1" 205 pounds and lighting quick, the talented defender brings the pain when he makes contact. HornedFrogBlitz.com caught up with the rising star to get the latest with his recruitment.
"Things are going really well and I've really been hearing a lot from everyone" said Moore, speaking of which schools he was hearing from the most. "People that are after me really hard and their commits are talking to me a lot are Baylor, A&M, TCU, Oklahoma State, Iowa and Texas Tech, that's about it."
With nearly 20 offers on the table, Moore has plenty of options to choose from. With a busy summer ahead, the hard hitting linebacker says he's still trying to sort out his schedule."
I'm going to visit some camps and some campuses but I haven't planned that out all the way yet" he said. "I know I'm going to take a lot of visits this summer so I can secure my thoughts on where I want to go."
Moore has set a loose deadline for a decision, saying that he wants to have a decision made before his senior football season begins. Needless to say, the next few months are huge for the schools that hope to land this local talent.
With TCU looking for help on the defensive side of the ball, Moore spoke about his knowledge of the TCU program and his familiarity with the Frogs.
"Yes sir, TCU was the first unofficial I had ever been to so I've been keeping up with them for a while" said Moore. "A coach that I'm really close to that used to coach at Bowie, Coach Perry, he's been on me and I know him really well and we talk a lot."
"I met Coach Patterson a couple of times and I have good talks with him all the time so everything is good with Fort Worth and TCU."
While Moore is looking for a defensive minded program at the next level, he knows he needs to see more than TCU to have something to compare them to.
"The way they play defense, they would really have me in a position where I would get to have fun and that's what I like to do" he said. "I like to be the playmaker for the defense and that would be nice if I could do that at TCU."
"That's why I need to take some more visits so I can look at the way all these defenses play so I can see where I want to be."
With a focus on academics, Moore says finding the right fit is the key to finding his home at the next level.
"Finding the right fit and getting real close with the linebacker coach, it's important to have a good relationship with him" answered Moore when asked what he's looking for in a school. "They have to have a good business program too because I probably want to be an accountant, that's really it for me."
With roughly 3 months until his timeline to make a decision, HornedFrogBlitz.com will be following this story closely and we'll have the latest information for you as it comes in.
