Brandon Finnegan has been selected with the #17 pick of the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft. The Junior left hander has been lights out for the Frogs, and looks to continue his stellar season Saturday afternoon when TCU squares off with Pepperdine in game one of the NCAA Super Regionals in Fort Worth, TX.
Finnegan joins Andrew Cashner (2008, 19th pick, Chicago Cubs) and Lance Broadway (2005, 15th pick, Chicago White Sox) as the 3rd pitcher to be selected in the first round in the Jim Schlossnagle era.
Finnegan is (8-3) on the season and has struck out 122 batters in 91 1/3 innings and carries an impressive 2.07 ERA into this weekend's series. Characterized as an aggressive pitcher with a nasty disposition on the mound, Finnegan is projected to be fast tracked to the major leagues by many of baseball's brightest minds, including the legendary Peter Gammons.
