Anderson commits to Sooners

The Sooners landed their second four-star recruit from the state of Texas this week with Katy RB Rodney Anderson.

The writing was on the wall. There was that feeling Katy (Texas) High running back Rodney Anderson wasn't leaving Oklahoma this weekend without committing.

Anderson, a four-star prospect, visited OU in April and shortly decommitted from Texas A&M after his trip to Norman.

It was obvious OU and Anderson were on the same page, but nobody realized just how obvious it was until seeing Anderson at OU's camp all three days. And following the final day, Anderson let the OU staff know he wants to be a Sooner.

There was no reason at all for Anderson to participate in OU's camp Saturday afternoon, but he chose to do so anyway. He was as good as advertised, showing all the tools in the toolbox with his speed, his vision, his physicality during drills.

For the third year in a row, OU has been able to go into Texas and land a crucial running back pledge. Two years ago it was Keith Ford. Last year it was Samaje Perine and now this time around it's Anderson.

Anderson and his family interacted with the OU coaches all weekend, and once Anderson was back on campus Sunday, it was clear it was a matter of when he would commit and not if he would.

He is OU's sixth pledge for the Class of 2015 and the second four-star recruit from the state of Texas in the last week. Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson cornerback P.J. Mbanasor pledged to OU on Tuesday. Anderson is the first running back commitment for the class.
