Daniels On the Rise

Euless (TX) Trinity 2016 defensive tackle Chris Daniels picked up an offer from TCU last week.

TCU has held a handful of camps already this summer with plenty of talented prospects attending each one. Several prospects were already known names; some are just beginning to get their name on the map.

That could be said for Euless (TX) Trinity defensive tackle prospect Chris Daniels.

The 2016 prospect was little known before arriving at the Frogs' satellite camp in Plano. That quickly changed once the 6-foot-3, 270-pounder ran his first forty with a time of 4.80. He followed that with another 4.8 and he soon gained the attention of the TCU coaching staff.

He didn't just test well. Daniels was top linemen in various drills and won several battles during one-on-one's. Overall, he was the top performer at the camp.

"I think I did pretty well," he said. "I need to work harder in the gym; I'm pretty strong but not strong enough."

With Daniels performing at such a high level, it shouldn't come as a surprise that he received an offer from the Frogs later that night. However, the offer from the hometown Frogs did catch Daniels by surprise.

"I was astounded," he said of receiving the TCU offer. "I don't know too much but I'm going to learn more about them. I'm going to go visit them pretty soon."

Daniels holds one other offer from Western Michigan at the moment but is getting interest from a few other programs.

"Baylor has been talking to me and U of M (Michigan) too," he said.

Daniels says proximity and academics will be the two biggest factors he's looking for in choosing where he fits in best.

"I'm looking at location and what a program is academic wise; more than just football," Daniels finished.
