TCU among the offers for 2016 LB

Plano (TX) Prestonwood linebacker Deonte Williams currently holds two offers from Big 12 programs.

With 15 commitments already in the fold for TCU’s 2015 recruiting class, the Frogs’ staff has already begun to hit the 2016 recruiting trail hard.

TCU has offered over 20 prospects from the 2016 class and among those recruits who have received an offer is Plano (TX) Prestonwood linebacker Deonte Williams.

Williams received an offer from the Frogs during a visit to campus several weeks ago. He 6-foot-1, 218-pounder says he was caught off guard by how much he liked TCU’s campus.

“I liked it, the campus was nice,” Williams said. “I went around the whole campus; I liked how they had it set up with the stadium and stuff like that. It was way different; I didn’t expect it.”

Following his tour, Williams had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with TCU head coach Gary Patterson. It was during that conversation when he learned of his offer.

“He just told me right off the bat; I was surprised,” Williams said of receiving the TCU offer.

With the ability to run well in space, that’s exactly the reason the Frogs’ extended an offer to the rising linebacker.

“They said I would be a good fit because they do a lot of coverage and I like covering,” Williams said. “I like to run and I can stay with the receiver. I like the style of defense they run over there.”

In addition to his TCU offer, Williams also holds an offer from Baylor and is receiving strong interest from Texas Tech and Florida State. He plans to attend a Florida State camp later this month.

“I should be heading to the Florida State camp,” he said.
