Countdown Of TCU Impact Players: No. 10

TCU senior linebacker Paul Dawson checks in at No. 10 in's list of the Frogs' Top 11 impact players for the 2014 season.

Position: LB
Class: Senior
HT: 6-2 | WT: 230
2013 stats: 91 tackles, 10 TFL, 3 PBU, 1 INT

What makes Dawson an impact player?

As the season wore on in 2013, Paul Dawson emerged as one of the top players on the TCU defense. He enjoyed his finest hour against Kansas when he logged 17 tackles, 3 TFL and a half a sack. It was the most tackles in a game for a TCU defender since Jonathan Anderson tallied 17 in a victory over BYU at Dallas Cowboy's stadium in 2011.

Dawson closed out the year notching double digit tackles in 5 of the final 7 games to entrench himself as a leader for the Frog's defense. Heading into his senior season, the 6'2" 230 pound Dawson will be leaned on heavily if TCU has any hope of emerging from last season's negative shadow.

An extremely athletic defender, Dawson has grown from a receiver in high school to one of the best linebackers the Big 12 has to offer. Now that Dawson has been in the system for a while, there shouldn't be a learning curve for the talented LB. With his knowledge of the defense at an all time high, Dawson should be free to dominate opponents at an even higher level than he did in 2013.
