What makes White an impact player?

TCU got an extended look at the benefit of having a long-down cornerback. Jason Verrett dazzled and shut off half the field for two straight season. Now, the Frogs look to Kevin White to fill that hole.

White improved immensely from his sophomore to junior seasons. He was able to defend bigger receivers, and he played like a more confident player.

On Wedesday, Gary Patterson praised his senior cornerback and said he was standing out at the beginning of fall camp. White was honorable mention All-Big 12 last season, so anything less than a solid season from White would be a disappointment.

White (and Ranthony Texada) will benefit from having an experienced group of safeties playing alongside them. The Frogs ranked sixth in the Big 12 in pass defense in 2013 as they allowed 225 yards per game through the air.

In order to approve upon that number, White will have to defend the best receivers in the Big 12 and do it nearly as well as Verrett did it a year ago. Horned Frog Blitz thinks White is up to the task which is why he's the fourth most important impact player for the Frogs this year.

Need proof of White's big play capability? In 2013 against LSU, White had four pass break-ups. That's the fourth most any player has ever had in Gary Patterson's tenure. White's poised for a big year.
