Commitment Report: J.F. Thomas

HornedFrogBlitz.com takes a look at 4-star receiver J.F. Thomas.

Player: J.F. Thomas
School: South Oak Cliff
Position: WR
Rating:
Rank: Scout.com No. 39 WR

EYEBALL TEST:

Thomas has prototypical size for a receiver with a 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame. He needs to add weight, but has the frame to do it. Speed wise, Thomas can stretch the field.

GAME EVAL:

Although South Oak Cliff lost a nail-biter against South Grand Prairie, 45-38, Thomas kept the Golden Bears in the whole game. Thomas finished with 13 catches on the night for 143 yards and 1 score. Thomas was mostly utilized on quick screens, but although those passes weren't downfield, Thomas used his speed and elusiveness to turn what would've been short gains into first downs. His touchdown came on a 50-yard reception, again on a receiver screen where he eluded several defenders before racing away from the SGP defense for the score. When he wasn't running screens, Thomas was able to stretch the field and get behind defensive backs but unfortunately the ball wasn't thrown his way. As a blocker, Thomas has his ups and downs, but could definitely use some improvement in that department to become a complete package at receiver. With Thomas' ability, he has a chance to see the field early and often at TCU.
