Week 5 of the Texas high school football season is upon us and it's time to take a look at where TCU commits will be in action this week.
South Grand Prairie (3-2; 1-0) vs. Duncanville (3-2; 1-0); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Gopher-Warrior Bowl – Grand Prairie
Both teams are hunting for their second district win of the season. South Grand Prairie is coming off a huge 56-27 win last week over Midlothian. Duncanville defeated Mansfield last week; 20-17. Austin enters the game with 496 receiving yards.
Dallas Bryan Adams (1-3; 0-1) vs. Dallas Conrad (1-3); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Couch Field - Dallas
Bryan Adams is still searching for their second win of the season and their first district win as they face Conrad. The offense has struggled of late as they got shut out by Newman Smith 21-0 last week. The good news is they face an 0-4 Conrad team that has allowed 118 points the last two games.
Coldspring – Oakhurst (3-2) - BYE
Dunham and his Coldspring teammates have a bye this week. They open district play next week.
Sam Houston (3-1; 0-1)) vs. Arlington Martin (2-2; 1-0); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Cravens Field
Sam Houston lost a heartbreaker in their district opener last week when they fell to Bowie 28-27. The road doesn’t get any easier this week as they face a very tough Arlington Martin squad. The Warriors dismantled Lamar last week 67-20.
New Boston (4-1) - BYE
New Boston has a bye this week. They open district play next week against Mt. Vernon.
Yoakum (4-1) vs. LaGrange (5-0); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Yoakum
Yoakum hopes the momentum they got from defeating Gonzales 51-26 last week will help them against the undefeated Leopards. LaGrange is coming off a 34-7 win over Fredericksburg.
Spring Westfield (3-1; 1-0) vs. Spring (4-0; 1-0); Friday, October 3rd, 7:00pm - Westfield
Westfield is winner of three consecutive games after the won their district opener last week over Montgomery; 20-6. They face a tougher test this week as rival and undefeated Spring comes in ready to send Westfield home with a loss. Spring defeated Dekaney last week 32-26.
Arlington Bowie (3-1; 1-0) vs. Arlington Lamar (2-2; 0-1), Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Wilemon Field - Arlington
The Volunteers are coming off a close 28-27 win over Sam Houston last week but the road may be easier this week with 2-2 Lamar. The Vikings are coming off a huge 67-20 loss to Arlington Martin.
Mansfield (3-2; 0-1) at Grand Prairie (3-2; 0-1); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Vernon Newsom Stadium
Mansfield is hoping to bounce back from last week’s disappointing 20-17 loss to Duncanville. The Tigers surrendered 13 points in the fourth quarter last week. Luckily, Grand Prairie is limping into the game; losers of two consecutive games including last week’s 53-0 loss to Desoto.
Round Rock (4-1) - BYE
Round Rock has a bye week this week. They continue district play next week against Leander Rouse.
Arlington Bowie (3-1) vs. Arlington Lamar (2-2); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Wilemon Field - Arlington
Small had a huge game in last week’s 28-27 win over Sam Houston as he collected 11 tackles and intercepted two passes. He’ll have a big test this week with Shane Buechele guiding the Lamar offense. The Vikings are coming off a 67-20 loss to Martin.
FW All Saints (3-2) vs. FW Trinity Valley (4-2); Friday, October 3rd, 7:00pm – Trinity Valley
All Saints has won three consecutive games which have all come in SPC play. The Saints defeated Country Day 48-16 last week. Trinity Valley started the season with a 4-0 record but are losers of two consecutive games including a 56-21 loss to Holland Hall.
Mesquite Horn (3-1; 1-0) vs. Richardson Berkner(2-2); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Wildcat-Ram Stadium
Horn is coming off a huge 42-20 win over Mesquite last week. It was the first game back for Stewart after an early season injury. Berkner comes into the game losers of two consecutive games including last week’s 37-22 loss to Lake Highlands.
South Oak Cliff (2-3) – BYE
South Oak Cliff has a bye this week. They continue district play next week.
Ft. Worth Southwest (1-4; 1-0) vs. Arlington Heights (4-0;); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Farrington Stadium – Ft. Worth
Southwest is coming off their first win of the season after defeating Western Hills 21-13 in their district opener. Unfortunately, the road gets a little tougher this week as they face the undefeated Yellow Jacktets, who won 60-14 over Grapevine last week.
Shepherd (3-1) vs. Crockett (1-3); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – Crockett
Both teams are coming off bye weeks last week.
Marble Falls(3-2; 1-0) vs. Georgetown (4-1; 0-1); Friday, October 3rd, 7:30pm – GeorgetownMarble Falls is coming off a big win over Dripping Springs last week; winning 35-14. Wooten threw for 398 yards and two scores in the win. Georgetown lost their first game of the season last week with a close 31-28 loss to Cedar Park. NOTE: Mike Freeze is no longer at Graham and is at Weatherford. He is not playing football this season.
