Week 8 of the Texas high school football season is upon us and it's time to take a look at where TCU commits will be in action this week.

2015 COMMITS

Jaelan Austin

South Grand Prairie (5-3; 3-1) vs. Mansfield (6-0; 2-0); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – R.L. Anderson Stadium - Mansfield

South Grand Prairie is coming of a 41-10 loss to Desoto and have been without the services of Austin the last week and a half. Mansfield had a bye last week but lost the previous week to Desoto 49-21.


Joseph Broadnax

Dallas Bryan Adams (3-4; 2-2) vs. North Dallas (1-7; 0-5); Thursday, October 23rd, 7:00pm –Forester Stadium

Bryan Adams got back in the win column on Thursday with a 42-14 win over North Dallas. The win evens the Cougars district record at 2-2 and keeps their playoff hopes alive.


Alec Dunham

Coldspring – Oakhurst (5-2; 2-0) vs. Tarkington (5-2; 1-1); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm - Coldspring

Coldspring has won four consecutive games and is perfect through two games of district play. The Trojans have outscored district opponents 76-7 in two games. Tarkington is coming off their first district loss; a 28-6 setback to Shepherd.


Darrion Flowers

Sam Houston (5-2; 2-2) vs. Weatherford (3-4; 0-4); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – Wilemon Field - Arlington

The Texans are riding high, currently on a two game district winning streak including last week’s dominating 75-19 win over Paschal. Weatherford started the season 3-0 but has lost four consecutive games including last week’s 41-23 loss to North Crowley.


Jeff Gladney

New Boston (6-1; 2-0) vs. Prairiland (4-3; 1-1); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – Prairiland

The Lions are winners of six consecutive games and have averaged 44 points of offense in their two district wins while limiting opponents to 19. Prairiland is coming off a 42-30 win over Daingerfield.


Tre'vontae Hights

Yoakum (5-3; 1-1) vs. Ingleside (5-2; 1-1); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – Yoakum

Yoakum improved their district record to 1-1 last week thanks to four touchdowns by Hights in a dramatic 46-40 win over Sinton. Ingleside is coming off a 45-8 win over Jourdanton.


Cordel Iwuagwu

Spring Westfield (6-1; 4-0) vs. Spring Dekaney (3-4; 1-3); Friday, October 24th, 7:00pm – George Stadium - Spring

Westfield is in the driver’s seat of district 15-6A play with a perfect 4-0 record which included last week’s 45-19 win over Klein Collins. Dekaney has struggled in district play but picked up their first district win last week in a 28-19 win over Klein Forest.


Tony James

Arlington Bowie (4-3; 2-2) vs. Arlington (3-4; 2-2), Friday, October 24th, 8:00pm – AT&T Stadium - Arlington

Both teams are hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive after suffering defeats last week. Bowie is coming off a 33-21 to district leader Arlington Martin. Meanwhile, since starting district with a 2-0 record, Arlington has dropped their last two ball games including last week’s 51-21 loss to Lamar.


Julius Lewis

Mansfield (4-3; 1-2) vs. South Grand Prairie (5-2; 3-1); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – R.L. Anderson Stadium - Mansfield

Mansfield is coming off a bye last week while South Grand Prairie is coming off a 41-10 loss to Desoto. Mansfield needs a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.


Breylin Mitchell

Round Rock (6-1; 4-0) vs. Pflugerville Hendrickson (5-2; 3-1); Friday, October 24th, 7:00pm – Hendrickson High School

Round Rock sits atop the district standings with a 4-0 record but will get a tough test tonight against Hendrickson. Round Rock has won six consecutive games with a strong defense; which includes last week’s 49-3 win over Cedar Ridge. Hendrickson is coming off a 21-6 win over rival Pflugerville.


Niko Small

Arlington Bowie (4-3; 2-2) vs. Arlington (3-4; 2-2); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm –AT&T Stadium - Arlington

Both teams are hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive after suffering defeats last week. Bowie is coming off a 33-21 to district leader Arlington Martin. Meanwhile, since starting district with a 2-0 record, Arlington has dropped their last two ball games including last week’s 51-21 loss to Lamar.


Jonathan Song

FW All Saints (6-2; 6-0 SPC) vs. Tulsa Holland Hall (3-5; 3-3 SPC); Friday, October 24th, 7:00pm – Holland Hall

All Saints makes the long trip up to Tulsa with the SPC three-year winning streak intact. The Saints are coming off a hard-fought 35-25 win over OKC Casady last week. Holland Hall started the season 0-5 but won three straight before losing last week to Dallas St. Mark’s; 42-13.


Jarrison Stewart

Mesquite Horn (6-1; 4-0) vs. North Mesquite(4-3; 2-2); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – Mesquite Memorial Stadium

Horn is at the top of the district 10-6A standings with a 4-0 record but records don’t matter much when these two teams meet. Horn has averaged 50.5 points per game in their district wins. Meanwhile, North Mesquite is coming off a 31-21 loss to Richardson Pearce.


J.F. Thomas

South Oak Cliff (4-3; 3-0) vs. Seagoville (7-0; 3-0); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – Sprague/Jones Field- Dallas

South Oak Cliff has won four consecutive games including last week’s 36-14 win over Dallas Kimball. Seagoville has been a surprise team of the metroplex this season with an undefeated record. The Dragons are coming off a 47-2 win over Molina. The winner of this game will sit alone at the top of the district 13-5A standings.


Semaj Thomas

Ft. Worth Southwest (2-5; 2-2) vs. Ft. Worth Northside(3-6; 0-5); Thursday, October 23rd, 7:30pm – Clark Stadium – Ft. Worth

Southwest kept their playoff hopes alive last night with a 38-21 win over Northside. Southwest, which has struggled on defense this season, limited the Steers to just 279 yards of offense.


2016 COMMITS

Jonathan Marshall

Shepherd (4-3; 1-1) vs. Madisonville (2-5; 1-1); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – Shepherd

Shepherd got the upset win last week with a 28-6 win over Tarkington. The win moved the Pirates into a second place tie in district play. They host Madisonville on Friday, which is coming off a 41-7 win over Huntington.


Brennen Wooten

Marble Falls(4-3; 2-2) vs. Cedar Park (4-3; 2-2); Friday, October 24th, 7:30pm – Cedar Park

The Mustangs are coming off a thrilling 49-46 win over Leander last week and they will need a repeat of that magic as they travel to Cedar Park. Both teams are tied in district play with 2-2 records. Cedar Park is coming off a 39-34 loss to Austin Vandergrift.

Mike Freeze is no longer at Graham and is at Weatherford. He is not playing football this season.
