Stewart Has Career Night

TCU commit Jarrison Stewart had a career night against rival North Mesquite on Friday by hauling in four touchdown receptions in Horn's 43-19 victory.

Mesquite (TX) Horn entered last Friday’s game against rival North Mesquite with a 6-1 overall record and was a perfect 4-0 in district play. A win would guarantee the Jaguars a playoff spot out of district 10-6A.

The Jaguars accomplished that mission and then some by defeating the Stallions, 43-19.

Horn was led by a huge night from receiver and TCU commit Jarrison Stewart. North Mesquite had no answer for Stewart on the night as he hauled in 6 catches for 152 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Stewart said he did what he needed to do to help his team get the win and achieve their goal of reaching the playoffs.

“We needed to win the game to get in the playoffs; I was up for my team and we did what we needed to do to come out with the win,” Stewart said of his big night. “We’re playing more as a family this year.”

After his big night, Stewart now has 11 touchdown receptions on the season; despite missing two games due to an injury. Although he had four scores, Stewart said his performance against Highland Park a few weeks ago when he scored three touchdowns is his biggest game this year.

“Probably still Highland Park, but that was very close,” he said. “I just leave it up to God, whatever he has planned I just leave it in his hands.”

When he’s not scoring touchdowns and helping Horn make a run for the district championship, Stewart has closely watched what TCU has been able to accomplish this season.

“I’m loving what they’re doing; I’ve been on them 100% since day one and never looking at anyone else,” he said of TCU. “I’m glad to be a part of it.”
