TCU Way Out In Front for Daniels
TCU is currently 6-1 and 3-1 in Big 12 play and ranked as the No. 10 team in the nation. The success the Frogs have enjoyed has caught the attention of many across the country; people are talking about the Frogs. And make no mistake, recruits have taken notice. Among those recruits is Euless (TX) Trinity defensive lineman Chris Daniels. The 6-foot-3, 284-pounder had already put the Frogs at the top of his list prior to the start of the season; now the interest just grows stronger. Daniels was one of many impressive 2016 prospects in attendance last week as the Frogs set several school records in their 82-27 rout over Texas Tech. It was the second game he’s attended this season. “Man, it was great,” Daniels said. “I like seeing the defense execute and get to the ball. There’s a lot of stuff I took from that game that I’m going to share with my teammates. When I was watching the game I was just astounded how TCU kept pounding; that was awesome.” Like others, Daniels was caught off guard by the Frogs’ scoring output. Although he’s a defensive player, Daniels admitted having an offense that explosive definitely opened his eyes. “It opens them very much; both sides of the ball are doing good,” he said. “It’s not just the defense doing good, the offense can help as well.” Daniels is no stranger to TCU, having visited them multiple times since receiving his offer over the summer. He continues to build a strong relationship with the staff and already feels like he’s part of the program. “We’re continuing relationships and they’re making me feel at home; it’s like I’m part of the family already,” he said. “It’s a great experience TCU has given me so far.” In addition to TCU, Daniels is starting to pick up interest from teams across the country. He feels several are on the verge of extending an offer. “USC, Arkansas, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Washington, Purdue, Michigan State and Michigan have started to show interest,” he said. “They’re all talking about offering me. Michigan talked to my coach the other day about me and asked about my school work and how I’m doing lately. USC offered me not too long ago. Baylor also invited me down to their game this week.” As far as a decision goes, Daniels hopes to make one after his season is complete. He and his parents have discussed several times about the importance of him making a good decision. “They want me to wait until just after the season just to make sure that I’m taking my time and doing everything right,” he said. “But, they really like TCU as much as I do.” At the moment, Daniels says the Frogs are standing out above the others; way above the others. “TCU is number one,” he said. “It’s TCU, Arkansas and Texas. But, TCU is very, very far the number one.”
