Bryce English is back on the market and the TCU Horned Frogs are one of three finalists for his signature come signing day. We caught up with English tonight to discuss his upcoming showdown with Kyler Murray and the Allen Eagles this Saturday as well as the latest news on the recruiting front.
”It’s going real good but recruiting has been kind of slow” said English. With a huge game this weekend against one of the most explosive teams in the nation, the big lineman is only focused on football right now and knows recruiting will pick back up after the season is over.
So, how has practice been leading up to the big game?
”We feel real good” he said. “We’ve had a great week of practice and we have our heads on straight and we have the right mind set. We know it’s going to be a real tough game but we have the right mind set.”
When asked what he’s seen on film that might give he and his Eagle teammates trouble, the fierce defender offered a two word response.
”Kyler Murray” said English. That’s all that really needs to be said because Murray is the guy that makes it all go for Allen. If Desoto can slow him down, they’ll have a chance to pull out the win.
”We just have to get pressure on him and keep contain and keep him in the pocket” he said. “We can’t let him get out.”
While all of his focus is on the big game this weekend, he did let me in on who the three programs are that he’s still considering and the Frogs are squarely in the mix.
“Arkansas, TCU and Arizona State” he said. “Those are the only three I’m still considering. The main thing I’m looking for is the scheme the school runs and where I fit. With TCU, they’re telling me I can be the next Chucky Hunter and with TCU, I like how they like to get after the quarterback.”
English says that all three programs are equal right now and that he’s in no hurry to make a decision. At the moment, it looks like he’ll make his choice somewhere close to signing day.
