Prospect Look: Chris Daniels

Euless Trinity moved past Plano West on Saturday night with a 49-31 victory.

Player: Chris Daniels
School: Euless (TX) Trinity
Position: DT
Rating:
Rank: NR
Offers: TCU, USC, Western Michigan

EYEBALL TEST:

At 6-foot-3, 284-pounds, Daniels already has the size to be a next level defensive tackle with still another year to go in high school. He's not a "heavy" 284, he has a very athletic frame and could easily play at 300 pounds in college.

GAME EVAL:

Trinity did what it does best to win against Plano West; they wore them down. Trinity was definitely the bigger squad on Saturday and Daniels was the most athletic big man on the field. Although Plano West running back Soso Jamabo rushed for 182 yards, the Trojan defensive line did a good job on the day. Daniels was often double-teamed on the night, but still managed two tackles for loss including a sack in the win. It's already been said, but even at 284-pounds, Daniels is a "lean" 284; he packs a ton of muscle. He's got tremendous strength in his upper body and has great explosion off the snap. It's not often that an offensive lineman was able to gain leverage. Daniels even showed some versatility by lining up at nose, three-tech and sometimes at end. But, he's definitely a defensive tackle at the next level and would be a tremendous get for TCU. For now, the Frogs are in the driver's seat.
