Galea'i talks TCU offer

Euless (TX) Trinity defensive end Tipa Galea'i received some good news on Monday night as he learned of a new offer from TCU.

Euless (TX) Trinity defensive end Tipa Galea’i got a big surprise Monday night following his team’s practice. The 6-foot-5, 220-pounded noticed a message from TCU telling him to give the coaches a call.

Galea’I didn’t know what he’d hear from the coaching staff, but the fact that he had received an offer completely shocked him.

“I wasn’t expecting that; I was expecting some news but I wasn’t expecting an offer,” he said. “They said that I fit perfect in what they see in me in their defense and they love how I play. It’s real exciting.”

It’s been a whirlwind month for Galea’I as he’s picked up offers from Texas Tech, Houston, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Utah, Utah State, Vanderbilt, Washington State and Virginia.

TCU has shown interest in Galea’I since the summer. In fact, the big defensive end has even been to a few TCU games this fall. Galea’I says at the moment he’s focused on helping Trinity make it to the Class 6A championship but plans to definitely make another visit to TCU.

“I plan on taking an official visit and I plan on looking more at their program,” he said. “It will most likely be after the season because I’m trying to focus on my season right now then I’ll start narrowing down my visits.”

Although Galea’I can see himself playing anywhere, he says TCU’s proximity to his home does have a little factor.

“I’d go anywhere, but it helps a lot to be close to the house,” Galeai said.

Trinity will face Odessa Permian this Friday at 6pm at Pennington Field.
