Boykin Named a Davey O'Brien Finalist
A year after splitting time between receiver and quarterback, TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was named a finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award on Tuesday night; the award given to the nation’s top quarterback. Boykin is joined on the finalist list by Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott. Boykin has led TCU to a 9-1 record and ranks first in the Big 12 and third nationally in total offense at 356.9 yards per game. Boykin has already set the TCU single-season record for passing yards with 3,021 and total offense with 3,569 yards. TCU is currently second in the nation in scoring offense at 45.9 points per game and ranks fourth in total offense, averaging 541.6 yards per game. As a finalist for the O’Brien award, Boykin will travel to Orlando, Florida on Dec.11 for the Home Depot College Football Awards.
